The species listed below are just a selection of the possible culturable fish.
Pike perch/ European Perch :
The "Sander lucioperca" also known as Pike Perch or Zander
are close related to the European Perch.
This fish is quite popular in Europe.
Pike Perch, in nature, lives throughout Europe, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Zander has an light meat structure, and is highly appreciated all over Europe.
In the indoor Hesy farms, the pike perch often grows till 1000 gram market size.
Trout/ Arctic Char/ Salmon :
There are many trout species,
most common in indoor Aquaculture is the Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Trout is related to the salmoninae family.
This fish is common known and consumed in Europe, US and Russia.
In the indoor Hesy farms, the trout grows till market size 400 gram,
for some markets even till 5000 grams
The sturgeon is known for it's black caviar, but also the meat is quite tasteful.
Due pollution and overfishing, sturgeon culture in aquaculture is more known.
Sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus)
Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii)
Siberian Sturgeon (Acipenser baerii)

Most common in indoor Aquaculture is the Red and Grey tilapia
Tilapia is common known and consumed world wide.
Lives in fresh water, but there are marine tilapia suitable for aquaculture
In the indoor Hesy farms, the tilapia grows till market size, average 500 gram,
Sea bream (Sparus Aurata) and Sea bass (Dicentrarchus Labrax)
The most common fish in Marine Aquaculture, with high demand all over Europe.
African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is common known in many countries.
This Air breathing, warm water species is farmed in very high density in basic RAS
The African Catfish has a fast growing rate with Low FCR (approx: 0.9)
European Catfish, the Wels catfish (Silurus glanis)
has a significant diffent living conditions, but also fast growing and low FCR.
Barramundi/ Murray Cod:
The Barramundi is a large size fish found in tropical regions of Australia.
Barramundi can grow quite well in both fresh and salt water.
Barramundi has an exceptional growing rate.
This make it an attractive candidate for aquaculture.
Hybrid striped bass:
Hybrid Striped Bass is a cross between Striped Bass (morone saxatilis) and White Bass (morone chrysops).
This cross permits a wider temperature range and a faster growth rate.
Firm white meat with a light delicate taste.
