A first batch production of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) was recently harvested in Havana, at the Cuban Aquaculture Technology Development Enterprise (EDTA), under the framework of the UNESCO-IHE led project “Strengthening the Cuban Food Production and Aquaculture Sector through Resources Optimization and Recovery” (Proyecto REAL: Recuperación para la Alimentación).

The batch was harvested in May, after 169 days of culture, using a modern aquaculture technology for the first time in Cuba.
